Лестарти (L`Estartit)
Enchanting fishing vilage, 45 km from the French border and 45 km
east of Girona. Barcelona 130 km. The former place of refuge for fisherman
has now developed into a popular holiday resort, thanks to it favourable
position. 5 km long, flat sandy beach with long sand promenade. Illes
Medes (Medes Island) with flora reserves. Sporting activites include
Diving, sailing, windsurfing, water-skiing, fishing etc. Excursions
on foot or by bicycle: Cala Pedrosa, Les Maures, Cala Calella etc.
Torroella (6 km). Prehistoric caves (Cau del Duc), Ermita de Sta Catarina
(14th century), Montgri castle (13th century). Music festival (July
to August). Sant Anaa festival (26.07), Carme procession (16-17.07).
Station in Flaca. 1.5 km from the centre of Estartit you will find
the town of Griells. From here it is best to walk to the centre of
Estaritt or with the regular narrow gauge railway - this way you do
not have to worry about finding a parking space.
